The curriculum has been developed to facilitate and embrace the implementation of the Competence Based Learning approach as stipulated in the basic education curriculum frame work (BECF). The curriculum clearly identifies core competences to be acquired by learners as they engage in activities in different learning areas.
The core competences are:
- Communication and Collaboration
- Critical thinking and problem solving
- Imagination and Creativity
- Citizenship
- Digital Literacy
- Learning to learn
- Self – efficacy
The Literacy and Numeracy Framework forms the basis for the curriculum at both the kindergarten and lower primary levels. In our curriculum planning we aim to help children develop skills, so that their progress can be not only identified but monitored as well.
Our underlying philosophy will always be that we strive as best as we can to cater for the individual needs of each pupil. This may lead to planning individual programmes ( IEP ) of study and will certainly involve the grouping of children at times, according to needs.

Music Activities
Music is a part of everyday life at Bookpoint Springs Academy. The school benefits from a wide range of pitched and unpitched percussion instruments with a multi-cultural origin. There will also be electronic keyboards and access to a music production program on the school. All children will be given the opportunity to use this equipment in their work in performing, composing and appraising. Awareness of musical culture is encouraged by the use of songs at Assembly times and during appropriate times within the classroom.

PE enhances exploration and development of personal talents as well. We have a very positive attitude towards the value of sport. Whilst class lessons are essentially non-competitive, the school will have football, netball, dance and athletic teams for inter - house competitions.
Christian Religious Education
Religious Education in the school is broadly Christian and focus on the holistic development of the learner through use of life approach. The program encourages co-existence and harmony in order to instill respect for religious and moral values as well as a tolerance of the beliefs and practices of other races and religions. All staff promote a code of conduct whereby children are made aware of, and learn to care about, the needs of others.
Art & Craft Activities
Children are encouraged to take pride in producing their highest standard of work possible. The school places a high emphasis on the display of children’s work in portfolio so it can be seen and appreciated by all. Drawing skills are developed so they can communicate their thoughts and feelings more effectively, and also to give them the ability to discover the world around them. Through painting, clay, modeling and tracing work the children learn about color, pattern, line, shape, texture and develops awareness.
Computer Science
Some of us parents could have lived full lives without being computer literate, but our children cannot. The only way to make sure that they are not left behind by the technology wave is to ensure they are well grounded in these key learning areas.
