Homework

Regular, effective homework is an essential part of school work for all pupils. The type and amount of homework that a teacher issues will vary from grade to grade. However, it is essential to ensure that the homework given is compatible with our school’s homework policy. Homework should consolidate the work done at school.

Homework is assigned beginning in grade one and is an integral part of the program. Homework reinforces classroom lessons and activities and helps students develop a sense of responsibility toward schoolwork. In the lower classes, homework can be collaborative, and parents are sometimes encouraged to work with their children.

In keeping with Bookpoint Academy’s emphasis on maintaining a high standard of academic integrity, older students are expected to complete and submit their homework assignments without relying on classmates, family members, or tutors unless they are permitted by their teachers to work collaboratively.

Homework and projects assignments will not be assigned over the religious holiday breaks.

.

In the lower primary level, as a general guideline, the maximum time required to complete regular weekly homework assignments for a major course should be equivalent to the class time for that course for a week.
